Incidence of the gastric cancer in the Czech Republic is decreasing but a prognosis is doubtful due to late diagnosis. Adequate surgical

resection is the only chance to cure this disease. Oncological treatment supplements surgery. The article is focused on contemporary

diagnosis and treatment of the gastric cancer
