Biopsychosocial model of oncological disorder

Cancer is the second leading cause of the death in the world´s developed and underdeveloped countries. Occurs in people of all ages, but

the incidence increases with the age. Psychological, behavioral and social factors play critical roles in cancer etiology and its treatment

and are instrumental in an individual´s adjustment to cancer. This article consequently leads to better understanding of the psychological

and social processes influencing cancer and health outcomes. Describes in introduction biopsychosocial model of cancer and defends

it as a necessary contribution to the scientific clinical metod. Farther discusses the role of psychological factors in breakout of cancer, in

its history and treatment and its influence on mortality. Indicates common and maladaptive psychological reactions in single stages of

oncological illness and comorbidity with psychiatric disorders. The article that way illustrates the importace of multidisciplinary approach

in assessment and also in treatment of cancer.
